In Loving Memory, Larry Sanch

By Paige Pelonis, CityHeART Executive Director

Larry Sanch, a Navy SEAL Veteran who served and was wounded in Vietnam, died in his home March 27, 2022.

His friends and neighbors at the Villages at Cabrillo held a Memorial Service Monday outside of his home.

Like most combat veterans, Larry was reluctant to talk about his military experiences. His ethnicity included roots from the Chippewa tribe, and he was very proud of his Native American heritage. Though he was confined to a wheel chair for the past 20 years, he never let that limit his involvement in his community or his activities.

Larry was an active member of his community at the Villages, co-founder of the Veterans Council by CityHeART, and a beloved friend to his fellow Veterans. He was known for his courage, his sense of humor, and his strong spirit.

He is survived by his son, Justin, and he will be remembered fondly by his many friends and neighbors at the Villages at Cabrillo.

We will miss Larry and his readiness to help out and speak up for those with disabilities. Please take a moment to honor a true American Hero.
