Hello! My name is Amina, and I am a College Corps Intern with CityHeART’s YouConnect program! I was born and raised in my beloved home, the San Francisco Bay Area, and I moved to Los Angeles county to start college where I fell in love with the city of Long Beach!
I am the first in my family to attend college. I am currently enrolled in my final year at California State Long Beach where I am majoring in Psychology, minoring in Sociology, and additionally pursuing a Health Care Administration Certificate!
I am especially passionate about the health of women, children, & families, de-stigmatizing mental health, and equal access of resources to communities of color. I am exploring options and looking forward to pursuing an abundant career in psychology, nursing, social work, and public health. A few activities that I enjoy for self care are making fruit smoothies, doing my makeup and hair, and taking long walks on the beach.
One quote that resonates with me is “a pearl was once a piece of sand, a diamond was once a piece of coal; do not let the pressure of the world destroy you, but let it transform you into something beautiful.”
I am honored to serve Long Beach through CityHeART!
