A Letter to the Me of Tomorrow

For the radio this past week I gave out a pretty interesting wellness challenge – asking us all to embrace changes in our lives in a small way by switching up our daily routines. The “purpose” of this – although I tend to shy away from assigning strict ideas of what each wellness challenge should provide us on our individual journeys – was really to get us thinking about what impact the routines we follow during the day have on us, while also incorporating some fun new habits to try out and experiment with change.

One of those habits was to try out writing a letter to your future self – not as some far-off concept, but a memo to the you of tomorrow. I wanted to undertake this particular aspect of the challenge, and share it with you all here – mostly because I saw it as an opportunity to connect with you all more in-depth about the wellness challenges that I share with you all on the radio. But I also wanted to use it as an opportunity to share with you all what these self-care habits can look like; they don’t always need to be in-depth or hyper-serious pieces of reflection or introspection. Sometimes the simple act of speaking to yourself with lightheartedness and humor, or self-compassion and kindness is all that it takes to start yourself on the road towards self-care.

This letter may not be groundbreaking in its contents or revolutionary in its insight to my soul – but it exists as a manifestation of my self-care journey. For that alone, it is valuable to me – and I hope that for anyone who undertook this challenge you found similar value in the exercise. As always, I encourage you all to share your experience with the wellness challenges with me, and to join me in the Moment in Between for more chances to share these stories with each other.
