Fatima’s Monthly Favorites

By Fatima Cruz, Creative Connect Intern

A month can go by so quickly that it often feels like I achieved nothing at all. It can be easy for one to think a month was “wasted”. However, it is important to focus on how to change our perspectives into a positive lens. Upon further reflection, I looked back on the month with many achievements. It did not have to be purely academic or work-related accomplishments. I decided to view an accomplishment as what added more joy and fulfillment to my life. I realized that despite any hardships I faced this month, I had many favorite moments within this past month.

Photobooths

I love photo booths! It’s a new “hobby” I’ve been getting into as of late. As a New Years resolution, I’m making more of an effort to delve into physical media which includes photo booths. It’s a nice physical memento to have, especially for memories and crafting. I have even stumbled upon photo booths that not only provide a physical photo, but also a digital photo and video!

The House In The Cerulean Sea

I’ve enjoyed getting back into my hobby of reading with my first book of the year: The House In The Cerulean Sea. It was a four stars in my book! This book is centered on a case manager, Linus, as he delves into a whimsical island when he is set off to report on an orphanage of magical children. It was just the perfect and wholesome read to throw myself into a new world full of fantasy and adventure.

Love Is The Way: Thee Sacred Souls

This song has been playing non-stop for me all month! Love Is The Way is all about how love can be redefined and our perception of love can expand as we grow. From holding hands with a loved one to just finding love as a way of being! I recommend listening to this song and the rest of Thee Sacred Souls’ discography.

Cafe Luxxe: Long Beach

A new month, a new coffee shop try!! I recently tried Caffe Luxxe for the first time and it did not disappoint! Just minutes away from the CSULB campus, Caffe Luxxe provides coffee, tea, and a few pastries in a comfy atmosphere. I liked their matcha as it suited my strong matcha preferences. It was the perfect place to chat away while enjoying the beautiful sunset over the water in the background.
