Click the registration button/s for additional information and rules for each event. Registration for each event is required in order to participate. Each event will award a prize to the participant who raises the most funds in that event for their organization of choice in addition to the category prizes described below.
Dance-athon!
Are you ready to dance your heart out for a cause you love?
This is a 5-HOUR dance-athon event. It will run from 12-5pm on Sat. Sept. 7 at SteelCraft LB. Participants will pay a $10 registration fee, create their personal dancing page, share that page with family/friends/coworkers/neighbors/the world! so they can donate to the organization you are dancing for. On the day of the event, participants will arrive no later than 11:30am and dance as long as they can for up to 5 HOURS! Prizes for the dancers will be given every half-hour, so the longer you stay in, the more prizes you can win! The last dancer/s standing will earn bonus funds for their organizations!!
Story Slam!
Every good cause has a GREAT story. What’s yours?
This is a competition in the art of storytelling. Participants in this challenge will be asked to share a true, personal story that reflects the reason behind their passion for the cause they are representing. This can be any TRUE first-person story participants would like to share, but it must connect back to the reason they chose to promote the cause they chose. Stories will be no longer than 5 minutes each, and storytellers will be judged by a panel of community members based on a score card that storytellers will receive during check-in at the event. The Story Slam will begin at 10:30am. The top three storytellers will each receive a prize for themselves AND will earn a bonus monetary gift for the organization they are representing.
Create-athon!
What if you had 5 hours to create a masterpiece that could serve your community?!
Well, now you do! Participants in this Create-ATHON will be given a set of art supplies and a giant canvas on which they will depict the vision of the organization they are representing. What does the nonprofit’s mission mean to you? What does it look like in action? What will the community look like when that vision is brought to life? Leave it all on the canvas and raise funds and awareness for a cause of your choice.
Karaoke Battle!
What’s the anthem of your cause?!
Yes, it’s karaoke … but it’s karaoke for a cause! In this challenge, participants will have one song and one song only to showcase not just their vocal chops and performance talent, but to also showcase the cause of the organization they are competing for. What is your organization’s theme song? Sing it for a panel of local Long Beach musicians and compete to win a bonus financial gift for your cause as well as a special, Long Beach locals prize for yourself in this singathon! Limited to one entry per participant, and please be prepared to answer the question: How does the song you chose reflect the mission you are promoting today?
Registered participants in any creative event will receive a unique link to a fundraising page that they will be able to modify and enhance to their liking. We encourage you to add a photo of yourself and a personalized narrative of why you chose the cause you chose to support, what it means to you, and how much of an impact donations to support your efforts will make. Between registration and the date of the event, participants will be challenged to share their link with as many people in their social network as possible in order to raise funds and awareness of the cause they chose to support.
PLEASE NOTE: 100% of the funds raised through these unique links will be provided to the organizations registered and represented (minus a minute percentage collected by Donor Box, the fundraising platform being utilized for this event). Following the event, each point of contact for the registered and participating organizations will receive a notification of the breakdown of funds raised along with a check in the full amount raised. CityHeART is not collecting a percentage of the donations that individual participants collect. Participants will pay a $10 registration fee for every event they register to compete in, which will be used to cover the costs of the event itself.
