‘We never know what we as people have buried in the catacombs and caverns of our heart’ | Ep. 4 As King by Philosophy

hosted by Philosophy

Produced by Art from Ashes Creative Intern Kacy McGonegle

In this episode of As King, Philosophy is joined by James (Jimmy) Holguin, also known as his character Mudd the Magnificent.

“What do you do to get in your process to create new magic or create new comedy?” Philosophy asked.

“Music is definitely the number one factor to me as far as inspiring a routine. Also seeing something out there, reading something. I use pain, I use life as a muse as well.”

— Mudd the Magnificent

“We never know what we as people have buried in the catacombs and caverns of our heart,” Philosophy said. “As vast and as glorious as life is, it is also on the converse side, it is also destructive, it is also fleeting … All of us have been through certain pain but for whatever reason the artist is able to not even transcend the pain but transform the pain. When you transform this pain, you’re giving voice to someone out there that didn’t necessarily have the platitude of intellect that you might have had in transferring this into the magic or into the comedy.”
