During this time of the year, I pause and reflect, in my humble way.
From a home where the struggle was often the norm,
I have grown with optimism, facing each obstacle I have encountered.
As the oldest of four, I carry their dreams,
A beacon of hope in their lives, or so it appears.
With laughter and love, we’ve weathered the storm,
In a world that can be unforgiving, we have learned to keep each other warm.
At Cal State, I strive, with purpose and grit,
In Criminal Justice, I’m finding my fit.
With every lecture and assignment, I am progressing toward my goals,
Building a future, igniting the fight.
