CityHeART’s Art from Ashes is sharing the mic with Poet Lolo Wink and Project Woman Good this month, you won’t want to miss this powerful storytelling event!
Thrilled doesn’t even begin to cover how stoked we are to announce that our friend and incredibly talented local poet Lolo Wink will share the mic with us this month as we share stories about complex and/or toxic relationships with Project Woman Good and YOU!
Lolo Wink, Julie from Project Woman Good, and CityHeART’s ArtfromAshes will share some personal stories, original creative work on the subject, as well as resources and support services in the area available to individuals walking this walk today.
Sharing stories is how we build community, it’s how we have ALWAYS built community … but there is not community without U! That’s right, we want to hear your story as well — any form of storytelling is welcome on this mic, and you can always share a story on a totally different topic, we want to hear those stories too!
Come one, come all Jan 31 at The Harbor LB on Pine Ave in Downtown Long Beach.
Meet Featured Artist Lolo Wink

“I became bait. I attracted abusive mates who all shared a string of similar attributes including alcoholism, verbal, physical, monetary, and psychological abuse. This felt normal to me. I felt I deserved this. I saw their best attributes and wanted nothing more for them to be their best self. But I never was able to see my own beautiful attributes. I didn’t know that I deserved better…
I had lost my voice and my power. In writing, I was slowly regaining that voice. Playing around with it. Trying to understand how it felt to speak my truth. The first time I stepped up to the mic to share an original piece, I trembled at the sound of my own voice amplified. Fast forward to 2022 and I am publishing my first book. A true-life product…
I focus a lot on self-worth, healing, and the ongoing journey of loving yourself.”
